A weekend break in Ipswich has the benefit of wonderful countryside all around and river trips down the Orwell – one of Britain’s most beautiful rivers.
Local to Ipswich is the now famous Essex Pig Company better known as Jimmy’s Farm situated just off the A14 at junction 55. Just take the A137 to Clacton and it is well signposted a few hundred yards off the main road.
A trip down to the docks at Felixstow the number 1 container port in Britain and Langard Fort can be an interesting thing to do on a dull day. Whilst a drive to Shotley at the end of Shotley Peninsular provides some spectacular views of both Felixstow and Harwich ports and a chance to visit some fine pubs on the riverside walk.
